Call for Art- The Fine Arts Company’ June Competition

This competition is open to any theme and any art form. Art pieces likely to catch the judges’ eye are those that are creative, skillfully composed, and technically excellent.

The top thirty artists will have their work displayed at our store for the month of June 2016 where our art collectors can buy your work. Three winners will be selected to receive selected prizes. Our contest is FREE to enter and up to three pieces of artwork may be entered.

An image of each entry must be emailed to the following email address: rcrouse@thefineartscompany.com. Entries not submitted to this email will not be in the contest. Please do not call about entering or bring work into the store. Send questions to the email above only.

IMAGE SIZE

Your image must be at least 1800 pixels along its longest dimension and 72 DPI. The file name of your image must be your first and last name, and the title of your piece, for example RoxanneCrouseTheRose.jpg. The subject line of your email must state Fine Arts Contest Entry: “Your Name”. Finally, in the body of your email, include your name and contact information (please also let us know that you saw this announcement on “ArtDeadline.Com”). Don’t forget to attach the images of your entries. If your email does not meet these requirements, we will unfortunately not be able to enter your submission into the competition.

Call for Propsals- Academic Art Gallery’ Artists and Curator Submissions

Academic is a contemporary art gallery located in Long Island City that showcases emerging artists and curators. It was founded in 2014.

Call for Propsals- President’s Gallery Exhibition Proposals

The Harold Washington College program not only includes a permanent collection of student work but also features diverse work from regional, national, and international artists. We feature thematically-organized group exhibitions as well as several community-based exhibitions each year.

The President’s Gallery is not a typical “white cube” gallery space. While we have over 100 feet of linear wall space and can accommodate sculptural works, we are located in the college’s administrative offices. We are especially interested in artists who understand the spatial context and are genuinely excited to craft projects that exist in a more real environment.

We have an open submission policy for gallery proposals from artists and curators. We are interested in all types of work that address contemporary issues and concerns, use materials in unusual ways, and elevate our visitors’ experience to new levels of participation and engagement. You may propose a conceptually-linked show or share your individual work to be considered for group shows.

Completed proposal applications should include the following:

Call for Art and Writing- Warren Undergraduate Review Literary Journal

Submissions for the Warren are coming to a close on February 18. That gives you all of reading break to brush off that gem of writing or art you’ve got hiding in your pocket. Make it glisten. And what better way is there to cap off a full day of doing whatever it is one does on family day by hitting ‘submit’ on your laptop at 12:01pm with perhaps a quart of liquid courage by your side. We know the feeling: our editors are eager to work with you and want to make this whole shebang of submitting an engaging and enjoyable process for all.

What’s more, all published contributors will receive a $45 honorarium, a free copy of the journal, and a ticket to our Spring release event. You deserve it. But make haste! We eagerly await your inspired creative works.

About the Warren: Founded in the Fall of 2009, The Warren is an open concept literary journal publishing the creative works of Undergraduates. The journal aims to foster the growth of a vibrant multidisciplinary creative culture at the University while providing invaluable exposure for young writers, thinkers and artists.

The journal is roughly 30 pages long and has an approximate print distribution of 500. The journal will also be published online and it is envisioned that we will eventually publish quarterly (three standard editions with one end of the year “Best Of”).

Call for Entries: "Breaking the Mold: Inspired by Innovation"

The Cape Cod Museum of Art invites visual artists residing in the US to enter its first Open Juried Exhibition, titled, “Breaking the Mold: Inspired by Innovation,” with a chance to exhibit in one of our main galleries for our 35th Anniversary in the spring of 2016. Juror Mim Brooks Fawcett, Executive Director of the Attleboro Museum, Attleboro, MA will select up to 40 artworks, and will choose several pieces for awards.  Awardees will be given recognition on the museum’s website and social media. All work in the following categories will be considered: 2D, 3D, and Photography. Audio & Video are not eligible.

The term “breaking the mold” implies both a preservation of authenticity and new beginnings. In celebration of its 35th anniversary, the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, MA is seeking innovative and inspired work from a diverse group of artists. 

The Cape Cod Museum of Art was incorporated in 1981. The museum is dedicated to its mission, “To Inspire through Art.”

About CICA: Started from the sculptor Czong Ho Kim’s studio in 1994, Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA) became a unique cultural space founded and cultivated by him. Not only CICA fosters projects of experimental artists, we are open for everyone to learn about Contemporary Art and apply it to one’s life. We aim to provide a creative, yet comfortable space for artists and the community to nurture their creative and critical thinking with visual culture while they communicate with each other.

CICA Museum has a collection of Czong Ho Kim’s sculptures, paintings, and architecture, as well as many renowned international artists’ works. Quite a few people have had a hard time with the "just drawings" limitation of our January drawing show, so to give people an opportunity to show a broader range of work, we've scrapped our original February show idea at Delurk to give you a show with a broader theme. So broad in fact, that there's no theme at all! We considered calling the show "everything but the kitchen sink", but then we thought about it, and decided... ehh.. you can even submit your kitchen sink if you want!

CALL FOR ART- All That Art at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts

U.S. National Deadline: January 29, 2016 – Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts will host the 11th Annual All That Art exhibition (from April 18‐29) and auction fundraising event on April 29 from 6‐9 pm in Maryland Hall’s galleries. Proceeds from All That Art benefit Maryland Hall’s visual arts program and the participating artists; live and silent auction sales are split equally between the artist and Maryland Hall.

Call for Art- Landscapes at BFP Creative

International Deadline: January 10, 2016 – As a reminder of what lies just beyond New York City (and hidden within the city itself), BFP Creative is putting together a show of work that depicts the natural world. Let’s celebrate beauty, sentimentality and awe.

We are seeking landscapes, seascapes and skyscapes in any medium. The work will be exhibited in Temporary Storage gallery for approximately two weeks with a reception on February 5th, 2016 and several other events during the run. Afterwards, the show will exist digitally in our online store.

Submit as many pieces as you’d like, all submissions will be reviewed by Thomas Burr Dodd and Hazel Santino. The final deadline for submissions is January 10th.

The longest single linear dimension for work is 36” (for flat works: the width for landscape orientation, the height for portrait), and in the interest of keeping the show accessible, the highest retail value of work we will include is $2,500.The commission for work sold will be split 50/50. We would like to have the exclusive right to sell and promote included works for 12 months from the date the show begins.

There is no entry fee associated with submitting work.

BFP Creative cannot cover shipping costs.

U.S. Regional Deadline: February 7, 2016 – Birthed from the deconstructive chaos of Dada and the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud Surrealism reacted to the upheavals of war, mechanization, and industry by accepting that forces other than reason govern human behavior and are at work under the veneer of civilization. As a result the surrealists sought to tap into these forces which they believed existed in the human subconscious. Following in the footsteps of this aesthetic tradition.

Call for Art- From the Pastoral to the Political Local Food Production, Land Use, & Communities

Food production, land use, and the building of community are interconnected themes. What is the relationship between the local food movement and farming and how we look at issues such as agribusiness, GMOs, and man-made chemicals? How has the preservation of land and natural resources become vital to future generations? The various local food movements found across the country are helping to build their communities and create new economies.
Surrounded by a strong local food movement within our own Rhode Island community, Hera Gallery seeks to explore the potential of what artists can bring to the table. What do artists have to say about localism, how are they responding to these issues in their work, and what can contemporary art add to this discussion?For this exhibition we are looking for work that ranges from the pastoral to the political in all media including 2d, 3d, video, and conceptual pieces.

CALL FOR ART- Creative Arts and Design Exhibition 'madebymotive'

The Creative Arts Network recently released the second issue of Hue magazine, Motive, which explores the trigger behind creative practice. We chose 12 of our favourite studios and freelancers to respond and would love to invite students to respond too. Submissions should explore either what motivates you to follow a career in your chosen discipline or the journey shaping the motivation of an individual project. 

Two design and inspiration awards are up for grabs and the first 100 submissions will receive a hand-numbered limited edition MadeByMotive A2 screenprint, signed by the designer and printed on GR Smith Colourplan.

THE CALL:
Illustrative engineers, come forth! Bring your metaphorical blueprints and show us your visionary prowess! We are looking for artists that would like to design the ultimate mech or mobile suit, armored vehicle, or cybernetic enhancements for our next exhibition: The Robo Show! 

Whether your vision of the perfect Mech is something of a fighter, piloting a futuristic war machine, The Borg piloting a huge cube,  a brain piloting a large pointy-headed man in his underwear, or an ancient automaton designed by a distant culture of long ago, we want you to help us build the universe's most diverse legion of mechanical mercenaries. 

What drives your technology? Is it bleeding-edge future-tech? Is it ancient? Magical? What universe? What culture? What purpose? How does it work? How do you drive it? Who could possibly pilot such a beast? We are looking for epic scenes of big robos in action, doing the things they were designed to do, or schematics, exploded components, or robo propaganda. If you want to build a mobile suit that cats can drive, so be it. If you want to draw your own personalized armored vehicle, perfect. Maybe you're inspired by genetically enhanced underwater suits? Or fancy bionics and cybernetic enhancements. We are excited to see original concepts that span the gamut of technologies, both real and imagined.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY- Stacey Scholarship Fund

In accordance with the will of the late Anna Lee Stacey, a trust fund has been created for the education of young men and women who aim to make art their profession.

Applications will be available online and accepted from November 2, 2015 through February 1, 2016

The purpose of the Scholarship, in accordance with the clear stipulation of the Stacey’s will, is to foster high standard in the study of form, color, drawing, painting, design, and technique, as these are expressed in modes showing patent affinity with the classical tradition of Western culture.

ONLY THOSE SHOULD APPLY WHO ARE SKILLED AND DEVOTED TO THIS CLASSICAL OR CONSERVATIVE TRADITION.

Here are some suggested subject categories for artworks. It is not necessary to provide something from each category:

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY- National Cartoonists Society Jay Kennedy Scholarship

The annual Jay Kennedy Scholarship, in memory of the late King Features editor, was funded by an initial $100,000 grant from the Hearst Foundation/King Features Syndicate and additional generous donations from Jerry Scott, Jim Borgman, Patrick McDonnell and many other prominent cartoonists. Submissions are adjudicated by a panel of top cartoonists and an award is given to the best college cartoonist. The recipient is feted at the annual NCS Reuben Awards Convention attended by many of the world’s leading cartoonists.

Applicants must be students at a 4-year college in the United States, Canada or Mexico who will be a Junior or Senior during the 2016-2017 academic year. Applicants do not have to be art majors to be eligible for this scholarship.

Along with a completed entry form, applicants are required to send 8 samples of their own cartooning artwork (copies only); noting if and where the work has been published, either in print or on the web. (See application for details.) DO NOT send original artwork.

DEADLINE: ENTRIES MUST BE POSTMARKED BY DECEMBER 15, 2015

The applications will be judged by the National Cartoonists Society Foundation (NCSF) and the number of scholarships given out and their amounts will be at the discretion of the NCSF.

U.S. National Deadline: March 4, 2016 – FireHouse Gallery, Rogue Community College is seeking entries for a juried exhibit in the contemporary format of the Storyboard, related to graphic novels, film video, animation, or any other expression or use of sequential narrative images. Open to all artist 18+ working in any media.

Aesthetic, cultural, and social works are among the art displayed by the Wiseman and Firehouse Gallery. Exhibits range from works by local artists to national artists of emerging importance. A variety of media and styles are presented to inspire and educate the viewer.

CALL FOR ART- Re/Considering (In)Humanity/Ies Exhibition

National Deadline: December 1, 2015 – The University of Nevada, Reno, invites creative submissions from graduate students for the sixth annual College of Liberal Arts Graduate Symposium (CLAGS).

This year’s symposium addresses the ways in which the afterlives of humanism (inhuman, post-human, non-human, etc.) variously work to support, complicate, and undermine our understanding of the human: its definition, epistemic function, and ontological underpinning.

We seek submissions that consider, or reconsider, humanity, inhumanity, or the humanities, across a variety of fields. The work can express any aspect from representational to non-representational.
