Gabby-Art 21 and the process

I enjoyed watching the Art 21 series and getting to seeing the work of 5 different and unique artists. This is helping me in trying to figure out by own process and what I truly want to do with my art. What drew me to all of the artists was that they were all telling a narrative with their art. While some narrative's were more apparent than others they were all unique and special to the respective artist.

What really stuck me though was what Charles Waters said at the beginning:

"Good art provokes and inspires"
This really sticks with me because the first video class I ever took in high school our teacher showed us a video and it said

"Art is a reaction"
and this has really stuck with me throughout my art career and Art 21 reminded me of this. I specifically related to Kara Walker's work because of her silhouettes and story she creates. The 360 mural she created was so unique that I wanted to just stand in there and look at every character to see their story. She makes it work simple but yet so complex it keep you thinking after you have seen it.

I am hoping that viewing all of these different artists processes will help me to refine mine as I work through my glitches. What I hope to do is to tell a story for my art than makes the viewer wanting more.

And one more thought from one of my favorite movies, Donnie Darko
we can be ghosts now
