Tergel: Response to Art 21 Video

Kiki Smith was my favorite out of the artists we saw in Art 21. I loved that she said that she is "trying to have as many experiences as she can", because I feel the same way. I definitely see that in here artwork as she switches through mediums, explores lots of different types and mediums of art, not just her main sculpture work. When she said that there's always some filing to be done, I really resonated with that because of the amount of work involved in making art. She said that "the more you manipulate a piece, the more life it has" and I definitely agree with that, I think that's why I really like to go back to pieces I made previously and make changes in them and develop them into new projects. I think I want to do that a little bit on the side as I am working on my portrait paintings.

I have recently thought about going through the massive archive of photographs that I have on 2 TB of hard drives and I want to try and compose them in different contexts. I am interested in recreating work from previous work. Kiki Smith's gallery of her photography of her sculptures was really inspirational, I saw it a few years ago and she really showed the value of going back to a piece and working on it... giving it more life....
