The Geode that is Gabby's work

It was really great getting to talk to Bleu from ROCA last week as it was quite a different insight to the art world. One of the things I enjoy most is being able to organize events and bringing art together for a show (it is one of the reasons I am creative directors for ArtAwake). Seeing that those opportunities are out there and that I could get paid is exciting for me. Bleu has a great grasp on being able to run an operation as large as ROCA as he talked about “running a tight ship” which is something I relate to through Art Council. I know that I have to be organized and keep everyone on their toes and hold them accountable for their actions so we can successful plan events.

I also think I had a little bit of a breakthrough this week with finding out more about me and my work. So my Environmental Studies thesis deals with how people understand climate change through photos and videos. I find it really interesting on how people understand environmental science through the information presented in the media.

My friend Danny(who knows me extremely well) was looking at my work and I was asking him what he thought of and he pointed out a few major factors I was not thing of. Without realizing it my work deals with the relationship that people have with the environment and nature. I am still like trying to figure out what all of this means. I think without realizing it my science and art is connected I just did not put two and two together.

As my critique group said I am hammering at this geode that is my work with a screwdriver. I think that I found the right rock hammer and I am starting to see a glimmer of the inside of the geode.
