The art world is this strange little bubble that is slowly
started to burst but it is still intact. For example, artists like Banksy and Sarah
Rutherford are using public spaces as a way to communicate art to the public.
This makes art more accessible to a larger audience and makes them more interested
in art in general. Sarah has done many murals around Rochester, including one
right in the Tunnel system of UR, and started a project known as “Wall Therapy”
in which artists come into Rochester to
make murals in public spaces.
The shift for public art is happen as many artists are
realizing that art is not just for a select few but for everybody. There are
even some groups who are using art as a way to engage with public while raising
awareness about different issues. For example, the high water project (http://highwaterline.org/new-york-city/)
is a woman drawing where NYC would flood due to climate change/global warming.
In short there is a shift but it is currently happening it
has not completely happen but the bubble is slowly starting to burst.
On to the next topic: success.
Success to me is being happy. Yes I like the fact I get
pretty good grades and make money doing jobs I love, but all of these things
make me happy. My parents taught me that there is more to life than money. My
mother and father bought me up while both of them work a crazy schedule to make
a better life for me and we did not have much when I was little. My parents have
sacrificed everything for my sisters and me so we can have a better life than
they did. Yes I do what to have a nice job and house, but it will mean nothing
if I am not happy. Having a life in which I can still get paid but do something
I love is my goal and I am not going to sacrifice who I am or my happiness for
a job.
This somewhat brings me to a topic of much debate that I
would like to touch on briefly: “The Meaning of Life”.
So what is the meaning of life?

It is to give life a meaning by being yourself.
