Scott’s talk was really inspiring. What left me the deepest
impression was when he talked about making bad art might not necessarily be a
bad thing. It is often the case with me
that I abandon a plan that is not going well for me after a while of unpaid
back effort. It is fascinating that Scott mentions bad art can eventually be turned
into good art because bad pieces, for me, are just frustrating to look at. So
maybe actually settling down and taking a critical look at the bad works
created could lead to inspiration of better or even good pieces.
Staying motivated is another point I can’t agree more
with. I am very used to being given a topic and deadline and to work within the
frame. Not to mention post-graduate life where we have to organize time
completely based on self-motivation, the semi self-motivated seminar has
already caused me a lot of trouble. I am very not used to having to organize my
time or coming up with an interesting concept. It seems so hard to get work done
when there is not a due.
