Last week at the RoCo was great. We had to go for class so I finally actually went inside and signed up which I’ve been meaning to do for awhile!
It’s always re-assuring to hear from someone new working in the art fields and stories about how s/he got there and where s/he’s going in the future. Bleu offered an interesting, fresh perspective coming from his position as a curator/manager instead of specifically an artist trying to thrive in a local community. RoCo is a cool place and the works on the wall done by artist Rich Garrison sparked some ideas/idea recycling and to be hoooonest I ended up in la-la-land brainstorming this new idea for a portion of our visit at RoCo. His works showcased, Shopping Cart Inertia, shows tracking patterns of weekly ad items in different major stores and (I think) their locations in the stores. The patterns reminded me of eye-tracking, which is of special interest to me considering my other major is brain stuff.
Props to Rich for giving me the inspiration to do an upcoming project where I will be tracking my eye movements across faces and making prints of my saccades…………
SUPER EXCITEd
also super pumped to go to MASS MoCA with freakin’ artists…and hang out all weekend with this crowd. looking forward to it
