I wish we
had more time at the places but I am glad that we went to as many places as we
did. Stormking was one of my favorite parts of the trip as I am fond of large
scale sculptures and the impact they can have on the viewer. It was also nice
to see in person pieces that I had read and wrote about in Writing on Art. We
talked a good amount about Andy GoIdburg and being able to the “stormking wall”
was really impactful for me. Everything in that sculpture was precise and intentional
with how the rocks had to be laid out. It was also interesting to see that
Goldburg was asked back to do another piece in which he bought the same stone
masses but in 10 days made a new wall with huge boulders place throughout it. I
really wish we had more time there as I only was able to see half the park but
I am glad I got a chance to go.
Mass MoCA I
think was one of my favorite museums I have been to in a very long time. I have
a special place in my heart for the MoMA but Mass MoCA’s setup I enjoyed. The
place was huge and there was so much to see and not enough time. I found what I
loved about the museum was the numerous installations in the museum. My absolute
favorite piece was the Clifford Ross Sopris Wall I it was everything I love about the environment
and art in one piece. The size of it was amazing and I loved the colors he
choose to use for it.
All in all it was a great trip and I might have to sneak back
to Mass MoCA sometime soon.
